Joan Martin (Menning) - Class Of 1947

Joan Martin (Menning)

Long time Rancho Mirage resident Joan Martin Menning passed away peacefully on April 18, 2017. She was 87 years old. Joan was the loving wife of Tom for 64 years and the beautiful mother of five children. Her passing takes her home to be with her beloved Tom.

Joan was born June 9, 1929 to James and Florence Martin. The oldest of two girls, she was raised in San Marino where she attended South Pasadena High School. She later attended the University of Arizona.

Joan and Tom raised their family in West Covina and later retired to Rancho Mirage where they spent thirty years surrounded by wonderful friends at The Springs. They loved to travel with their friends and Joan enjoyed playing golf and entertaining. Her gift of hospitality and generosity were a blessing to everyone who knew her. A dear friend remarked, 'She was the most beautiful lady, inside and out.'

She will be terribly missed and is survived by her children, Thomas Jr, Lee, Kathleen, James, and Jeffery; her ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
