Paul Wendell Waterman - Class Of 1962

Paul Wendell Waterman III, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on December 7, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Paul was born in Pasadena on September 29, 1944 to Paul and Margaret Taylor Waterman. He was the youngest of four children and grew up with three older sisters, Nancy (SPHS '59), Wendie (SPHS '60), and Patty (SPHS '61). It was in Southern California where he met and married his beautiful wife of 47 years, Nadine. They were married in 1969 and spent their first 16 years together raising their three wonderful boys, Brad, Tom, and Ryan, in Southern California. In 1985, Paul and Nadine moved their family north to Cottage Grove, Oregon to introduce their boys to an adventurous and simpler way of life.

Paul was a passionate and influential youth coach and volunteer for many years in soccer and baseball and made an unmeasurable mark on the children and their families. Whether it was teaching the fundamentals of the sport or helping young kids become great young men, every family wanted their kids to play for Paul. His other true love was golf where he was a member at Middlefield Golf Course in Cottage Grove. He touched many folks and made an amazing number of friends on the golf course. It was at Middlefield where he had his two 'Holes in One' milstones he loved to boast to his kids about.

Paul had an amazing sense of loyalty and was always there for anyone who needed him. Everyone who met him found an instant friend.

Paul is survived by his wife, his three sons, and his eight grandchildren.
