I am so sorry to read that Hank Swanson has passed away. Though I did not know him well our paths crossed on multiple occasions on Little League fields (watching his home runs leave the major league park). He was an excellent all-around athlete and wish all of his family well.

Dear Fellow Tigers,

So sorry to hear about the passing of Hank Swanson. I knew Hank as a teamate on E.O. Anders for two years, and in school. Hank was the most upstanding teammate, playing that most difficult position, catcher. He was acknowledged as the best at his position in SoPas baseball - the best defensive catcher, an excellent hitter, and most important of all, a selfless, dedicated team member. Bless you Hank - I didn't know you past high school, but I'm sure that you marked your life, and those who knew you, with the same selflessness and kindness when I knew you so many years ago.

How did Hank die so young?  He was a such a great athlete.  He was the Defensive Player of the Year for CIF Southern Section  in 1975  when we beat Villa Park in the CIF finals.  He also became an assistant football coach at South Pasadena High School in the 1990's.  He always had an upbeat attitude. He will be missed.
