David E Bond, 86, Water Conservationist

Private services will be conducted for David E Bond, 86, of Palm Desert.

A native of Texas, Mr Bond died at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage. Mr Bond was a contractor in the desert, where he had lived for 43 years. An avid gardener, he had a lifelong interest in land-use planning and water conservation, and had worked to preserve the natural beauty of the desert.

Mr Bond was a 1976 candidate for the Palm Desert City Council. He was a member of Palm Desert Rotary and Kiwanis clubs and the Palm Desert Little Theater.

Mr Bond graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in architecture. For 20 years, he was employed by North American Aviation and worked in planning and as a liaison officer between North American Aviation and the city of Los Angeles in matters concerning Los Angeles International Airport.

Mr Bond is survived by his wife, Bea; two daughters, Cecily Bond of Sacramento and Lauren Jeffers of Garden Grove, and three grandchildren.
