Mary Hood Slater

December 7, 1896 - November 11, 1959

Mary Katherine Slater, 154 Acacia Avenue, Monrovia, died this morning at the Huntington Memorial Hospital.

She had been a resident of Monrovia for the past 30 years and was well known as a teacher of physical education at Clifton School for at least 25 years. She came to Monrovia as a teacher at Monrovia-Duarte High School.

She was past matron of the Monrovia Order of Eastern Star, a member of Sojourners 608, guardian of Job's daughters, and past president of the Emblem Club of Monrovia. She was graduated from the University of Southern California and was a member of Kappa Delta sorority at that college.

She leave two sons, Donald of Pomona, and Thomas, at home; four grandchildren and two brothers, John Hiram Hood (SPHS '15) of San Marino, and Thomas Howard Hood (SPHS '22) of Manhattan Beach.
