Herb Cocks was my uncle. He passed away in 2000. I recall visiting Herb, my aunt Norma, and cousin Greg in their Soth Pasadena home many times in the 1950's. They lived on Gillette Crescent for many years. Herb was always a first class man with a big heart. For a time, while in Junior High, I worked Saturday mornings at the machine shop Herb and his brothers owned. Herb and my aunt Norma were given the very hard job of letting me know my dad had died in early 1953.  They did it with great sensitivity and compassion.Whenever I'm in South Pas, I go by 1815 Gillette Crescent and recall the good times as well as the day they broke the bad news to an 11 year old boy. Later, Norm and Herb moved to a home on Marengo Avenue where they lived many happy years. The last time I saw Herb was over Thanksgiving in 1999. Herb, my son Brian and I went up to Buster's on Mission Street and drank much coffee and talked for hours. Herb was quite the baseball player in high school and later became the best uncle anyone could ask for.
