Carleton Edgar Durrell Jr - Class Of 1931

Carleton Edgar Durrell, Jr. was born January 27, 1914 in Pasadena, California and died in Alhambra, February 6, 2008. Carl was the son of Carleton and Gertrude Durrell, and grandson of pioneer George A. Durrell who moved the family to Pasadena in 1887.

Carl graduated from South Pasadena High School, attended Stanford University, and graduated from Johns Hopkins. He served in the Army in WorId War II as a 1st Lieutenant in the Pacific where he earned a bronze star. He was a teacher in the Los Angeles School District most of his career. He was predeceased by his brother John Durrell (SPHS '28) and sister Catherine Durrell Compton (SPHS '35). He is survived by his sister Margaret Durrell Reel (SPHS '39) and two nephews and three nieces. He was a scholar, who loved to travel, and a very kind person who will be missed by family and friends.
