************************************

Philip S Shepardson, 30, former Air Force captain and purchasing agent for a Los Angeles business firm, killed himself February 10, 1948, in his home at 1947 Mill Road, South Pasadena, police reported.

Shepardson was described as a 'tragic war casualty as surely as though he had died in battle' by Dr William T Johnson, family friend and physician, who pronounced Shepardson dead after the body was found in the bathtub by his wife Ruth. A straight-edged razor lay nearby.

No note of explanation was left, but South Pasadena police said Shepardson had been under treatment for a nervous condition caused by long war service in the South Pacific. He leaves a son David, 11 months old.
