Oscar A Smith Jr - Class Of 1934

Oscar Smith of Sycamore Drive in San Marino passed away April 20, 2005.

Oscar had been a resident of San Marino for 55 years with his wife and children.  He also lived in San Marino with his parents, the O.A. Smith, Srs.  Oscar was a graduate of South Pasadena High School (1934), Stanford (1938), and Stanford Business School.  He had his own accounting firm in Los Angeles for many years, and was a 50-year member of its accounting society.  He was also very active in the L.A. Junior Chamber of Commerce and served on its Board from 1942-1943.  Oscar and his wife, Boo Smith, had been active members of the San Gabriel Country Club since 1957.  Oscar gave up golf in the year 2000, but remained an active bridge player at the Club.

Oscar loved to body surf, having also owned a home overlooking "Big Corona."  He loved to hunt and fish, and could tell stories of the water in the Owens Valley and also Pasadena that no one sees today.  He was a wonderful dancer, and the dance parties at his San Marino home are to be remembered.

Oscar will be very much missed by his daughter, Leslie Murphy of San Anselmo, son Stephen Smith of Redlands, seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
