Araby Colton, a great, progressive spirit and longtime resident of Carmel Valley, left us on March 2, 2007. She was 95, born November 11, 1911. She is survived by her daughter, Arabella; her son, Ken and daughter-in-law, Katie; and her son, Kevin; as well as her grandchildren, Victoria, Zachary, Seralyn, and Michael.
Araby was an actress as a young woman, and then a writer and activist until the end of her life, writing newspaper columns, novels, and screenplays. With her late husband, Vic, she founded The Canadian-American Wolf Defenders. Araby always stood up to be counted, with passion and wit. She will be terribly missed.
