Margaret Olive Dibben (Kemp) - Class Of 1935

Margaret Olive Dibben (Kemp)

Olive Margaret (October 17, 1917 - December 16, 2018) was born in Chicago, Illinois to parents Minnie and Walter Dibben. Her family moved to Los Angeles in 1923 where she later attended South Pasadena High School, Occidental College, and Bright Mann Business College. She owned First Street Store in East Los Angeles until it closed in 2007 after over 83 years of business.

Olive was a passionate supporter of animal causes and was a docent at Los Angeles Zoo for 20 years. She volunteered in the zoo's nursery and was very proud of hand-raising the baby gorillas and orangutans.

She is survived by her son Robert Kemp Jr and daughter Ruth Kemp; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Robert D Kemp and daughter Diana. She was the matriarch of our family and our hearts grieve without her unceasing presence.
