Frances 'Fran' Simpson (Daigh) - Class Of 1938

Frances 'Fran' Simpson (Daigh)

Frances Daigh of Redondo Beach passed away at the age of 88 on August 12, 2009 from complications due to Alzheimer's disease.  Frances Simpson was born on April 12, 1921, was raised in South Pasadena and attended Occidental College.  She moved to Nebraska after she married Harrison Daigh, who was stationed in Lincoln during World War II.  Upon returning to California after the War, Frances and Harrison settled in Redondo Beach, where she lived until 2008.

Fran decided to be a stay-at-home mom and raise her two sons, both of whom attended Redondo Beach public schools.  Her family was her life and she was most proud of both of her sons.  She looked forward to and always enjoyed the family vacations of boating, camping, and golfing.  She was active in the PTA, Sunset Little League, Sandpipers, and St. Cross Episcopal Church in Hermosa Beach.  She later worked for the Broadway Department store and Northrop Grumman.

Fran will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  Everyone will remember her continued optimism and lasting smile, especially during the last few years.  She is survived by her son, Gary; daughter-in-law, Susan; and granddaughters, Sarah and Stacy.  She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Sandi, widow of Ronald Daigh.
