In Memory

Kris Cunningham - Class Of 1966

Kris Cunningham, born November 17, 1947, died February 2, 2013 of a heart attack. Kris was a South Pasadena kid; Oneonta, SPJHS, SPHS.  But mostly, Kris was a musician. He got his first set of drums at age three and more than anything else, he loved playing the drums.

He served two years in the Army and when he got out, he became a full time student in the Haight Ashbury of San Francisco. Back to South Pasadena (where he continued to live for the next 40+ years), he worked as a tool maker and as a dye artist doing tie dyeing and multiple applications for fabric dyeing.  But Kris was always a musician, playing jazz, rock and roll, gospel, and ethnic percussion all over the United States. Kris and his music and his drums will all be missed.

Don Chambers (1966)

Kris came up to me last reunion.  It was great to see him!  We had played music in a group way back in Jr. High I think it was.  One of my first gigs for sure.  Sorry to hear of his passing...
