John Fopiano - Class Of 1954 VIEW PROFILE

John Fopiano

John passed away November 3, 2011.  He had emphysema and was house-bound for more than two years.  We did think he had a bit more time but he had a sudden attack in the middle of the night and was put in intensive care for several days.  Luckily, our younger daughter, who married and lives in Vienna, Austria, got here in time to be with her dad for a few hours.  Lois, his sister (SPHS '55), was with him when he passed.  It was a peaceful transition and he was tired and ready to go.  We miss his humor and strong, loving support.

William 'Bill' Hargraves (1954)

I had many fond memory's of John growing in So Pas.  All fun!  He and I and a few others joined the Army in 1954 when we heard the government was going to end the GI Bill.  We left PCC and volunteered for the draft.   As it happened we made it in time.  He was a dog trainer stationed in Colorado, while I and many other classmates from So Pas went to various places in the world.

John liked to bragged about being on permanent TDY during his time in Colorado.

He was a great guy, never a dull moment when you were in his company!  I will miss him!
