On April 26, 2015, our dear father Dow Bateman joined his beloved wife Elaine and parents Ray and Helen within the loving embrace of our heavenly Father. For 87 years, Dow was a daily source of happiness, inspiration, and love for everyone in his life. Incredibly warm and caring, Dow always found a way to connect with each person he met, typically prompting  the same reaction. "What a truly wonderful and genuine man." 

Dow passionately embraced life, from building and running businesses to fly fishing to golfing to family trips and barbeques to just watching his grandchildren play the sport of the season or perform in a school program. But above all else, Dow was at his very best and happiest when he was doing just about anything alongside Elaine and surrounded by his family. Dow and Elaine were married in 1955, after Dow spent four years in the United States Air Force. Together they raised three children, Brad (Julie), Brian (Mary), and Jane (Jerry), who gave them eight grandchildren, followed by three great-grandchildren. Dow and Elaine showed everyone their strong commitment to family, for which we are eternally grateful. We will miss them both dearly, but when we all get together as a family, we will know it's because of them.
