Emi was an outstanding student in every subject. She was born in a Japanese "Relocation" camp in 1943 during world war II. When Las Flores school closed in the eary 1950s, about half of us were sent to Marengo. Emi was one of my first friends, she showed me how to hang upside down on the monkey bars, and illustrated how to get off the injury free. I know I was insensitive to her position in post war America, but I don't recall anyone ever being mean to her, Nevertheless her journey couldn't have been easy, just look at this photo.  I never saw her after graduation, but I understand that she was an outstanding teacher. She was a wonderful person. RIP

Jim, thanks for taking the time and effort to memorialize Emi. As the 58 years have passed since 1961... it is, at times, a little hard to remember all our '61 classmates, but I do have some rememberance of her. I just looked her up in our '61 Copa de Oro, and see she was in the Latin Club and Tri-Hi-Wy... and she looked so happy, with the "whole world" ahead of her. My condolonces to her family and her close friends.  -- Nat --
