Nancy Dowling (Tookey) - Class Of 1947

Nancy Dowling (Tookey)

Nancy Dowling Tookey (November 19, 1929 - October 15, 2014), lifetime resident of San Marino, passed peacefully in her sleep after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Nancy, a third generation Angeleno, attended Valentine Elementary, Huntington Middle, and South Pasadena-San Marino High School. After attending UCLA where she joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, Nancy married William Tookey a childhood friend from La Canada.

An only child, Nancy always wanted to build a large family of five children. She was a fair-minded and determined parent that managed her dynamic household with a 'down to earth' love. Dinner was served when you heard the church bells, and it was time to head into the house when the street lights came on. She is known in the community for her dedication and talent in all her volunteer endeavors including the Legal Aid Society, National Charity League, Cardiac League, Huntington Hospital, and the gardens at Huntington Library.

Her passion was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother for her flourishing family. We will miss you deeply, Nana. She is survived by her children:  Geoff, Cindy (Lee), Nancy, Mark, and Morgan (Leslie); nine grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
