James C 'Jimmy' Thompson - Class Of 1958

James C 'Jimmy' Thompson

Jimmy Thompson died on July 7, 2010 after a decade long battle with diabetes.  We remember Jimmy as our star football player and a dear and very sweet friend to many of us.  He leaves behind his lovely wife Gail, yes, our Homecoming Princess, as well as three daughters and six grandchildren.

Gail and Jimmy fell in love in junior high and theirs was an enduring love that led to a long marriage.  She was at his bedside until the end.

I first met Jim in Junior High around 1953. His family moved down the street from me from Mississippi. I truly enjoyed his friendship over the years along with his brother Jack.

I will never forget when Jim first met Gail and they would come over to the house  from time to time and listen to " Earth Angel" and many other great songs of the time.

Jim invited me to share a house on Balboa Island in 1960 along with his brother and another friend of theirs so we could split the $300/Mo. rent 4 ways and go to Orange Coast College.

Although I lost touch over the years, my memory seems like yesterday. I shall always remember the great times together and wish Gail and her daughters the very best in the years to come.
