Ruthanne 'Cookie' Zellers (Lindsay)

With great sadness the family of Ruthanne (Cookie) Lindsay announces her passing while at her home in Paradise, California, October 31, 2018, at the age of 77 years. She leaves behind her four children:  Tim (Diane) Wild, Jennifer (James) Robbins, John Wing and Michael Wing. And two sisters Mary Martin and Therese Davenport. She was preceded in death by her husband and recently her two sisters Janet Stiles and Tamson Zellers Fries '55.

Ruthanne was born on July 23, 1941 in Newark, New Jersey to her parents Eleanor Ahearn and Frank Zellers. At the age of 13, Ruthanne and her family moved to California. Ruthanne went to South Pasadena High School. She was crowned homecoming princess and rode in the Tournament of Roses Parade.

After attending one semester of college she married John (Bud) Wing '57. They ran several businesses together and most remembered them for 'Cookie's Dogtown Diner'. They were married for 21 years. Later she married Charles Lindsay. They were married for 20 years before his untimely death in 2003.

Ruthanne worked as a bookkeeper in a bank and a medical transcriptionist and coder for 25 years. She retired at the age of 69 in 2009. She was a Cub Scout leader, catechism teacher and many other volunteer positions. She was known in her community as 'Granny' to all. She made burritos for the local football team, marshmallow treats for students at the continuation high school. And will mostly be remembered for her made-up-birthday rhyming songs. She loved to cook for people and made amazing apple pies. She had a radiant smile that made you feel loved and cared for. She loved unconditionally. This world has lost a bright, intelligent, beautiful lady; classy and silly all in one.
