Wendy Gann (Perone) - Class Of 1965

Wendy Gann (Perone)

Wendy Gann Perone

January 8, 1947 - January 7, 2015

Wendy was born in Santa Ana, California. Her family moved to Lakewood shortly thereafter where she lived with her parents Zeke and Rose, and sister Marsha. The Gann family moved to South Pasadena in the late 50s where Wendy graduated from junior and senior high school in 1965. Wendy was very involved in student activities including a member of the Tigerettes, Spanish Club, Red Cross, and CSF. She also worked in the Student Store and loved interacting with teachers and students every day. Early in her junior year, Wendy met her lifelong partner Tony Perone, also class of 1965. It was truly love at first sight!

Shortly after graduating from SPHS, Wendy attended cosmetology school in Pasadena where she received her license, passing her test with the top score in the state of California. She worked at Astons Beauty Parlor in South Pasadena next to Fair Oaks Pharmacy for many years. Wendy became Mrs Perone in 1968, where she settled down in San Gabriel to raise the daughter and two sons that blessed her life.

In the 80s, Wendy accepted Jesus Christ into her heart as her Lord and Savior! She then dedicated the rest of her life to studying God's word and ministering to literally thousands of women. She was very involved in Bible Study Fellowship and became a leader and served for over 25 years. She also was involved with ministering to the young women and moms at her church, San Gabriel Community Church.

In 2005, Wendy was 'officially' diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Dementia, a form of dementia very similar to Alzheimer disease. She passed away to live eternally with Jesus, which is the greatest joy to her entire family. Wendy left behind a legacy of three children and nine grandchildren, whom she loved as much as humanly possible. She loved being a wife, mom, and 'nonnie'! What gave her peace was being a child of God!

I'm very saddened by Wendy's passing. Her Mom, Rose, and my Mom were best friends when we were in high school. Her sister, Marsha and my sister Lorraine were very good friends also.  Wendy used to help me with my homework, she'd do my make up, trim my hair and even sewed things for me. Our birthdays were a day apart and many times we would share our birthdays, at either of our houses. One year, all she wanted was a cherry pie, so our Moms made the pie and we had a party at Garfield Park. I lost touch with her after I moved away from the area. My thoughts and prayers are with Tony and the family. Jeanine (Terry) Kearney Class of 1967

Judith Foster (Giem) (1965)

My thoughts and prayers are with Tony and his family at this sad time. I lost my mom to this terrible disease. I will continue to pray for all of you and to remember Wendy as the sweet and thoughtful friend she was to me in high school. I pray that the wonderful memories that Tony and his children and grandchildren have will help them heal. I know that Wendy will be missed.

Hugs and blessings,

Judy Foster Giem
