Ray, a member of the Class of '33, was accidentally shot while on a hunting trip on February 22, 1933.  All his life, Ray had been a student of the South Pasadena schools.

A Coroner's jury at Stone's mortuary held that the death of Ray Morling, 18-year-old South Pasadena High School student, shot in the leg with a shotgun near Fontana February 22, was accidental.

Morling and six companions had gone to the Fontana district to hunt rabbits, it was testified, and at the scene of the proposed hunt a shotgun was leaned against an automobile. It fell and was discharged. The charge struck Morling in the right leg, severing an artery. Loss of blood caused death February 23, 1933.
