Winifred Andrews

Winifred Andrews, a retired school librarian in South Pasadena, died March 13, 2003 at the Health Center of the PEO Home in Alhambra. Born October 22, 1905 in Cloquet, Minnesota, raised in Oregon and a graduate of the University of Oregon, Miss Andrews had lived in southern California since 1938 when she became School Librarian at the South Pasadena Junior High School (now Middle School). She remained there until her retirement in 1968.

Miss Andrews was an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in South Pasadena and was their Librarian for more than 30 years. "Coffee Hour on the Patio" after Sunday services was enhanced by the Library Cart, wending its way through the crowd, checking out books to busy people who might not otherwise run across them. Interests included travel, AAUW, the Huntington Library, Phi Beta Kappa Alumni, PEO, and her family. Miss Andrews is survived by her nieces, Ann Bush (Russell), Fremont, California; nephews, Bruce Bonney, Satsop, Washington, Dr George Andrews (Joy), State College, Pennsylvania, and Ambassador Raymond Ewing (Jere), Alexandria, Virginia. Also surviving are numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
