Thomas Lincoln Jeffery was born in Seattle, Washington. His father, Raymond, was an orthopedic surgeon and his mother, Margaret (nee Hickman) was a home economics teacher. The Jeffery family relocated to Southern California in the late 1930s and settled in San Marino. Thomas attended Pasadena City College where he met his wife, Marilyn Chase. They married in March 1953 just before he went overseas in the US Navy during the Korean War.

Upon his separation from service, he received a Business degree from Woodbury College. In the 1960s, Thomas moved his family to Palm Desert and joined an accounting partnership. He remained in Palm Desert until Marilyn's death in 1997. He retired and moved around in his RV until 1999.

After some medical issues, he moved into the Veteran's Home of California in West Los Angeles in 2011 where he remained until his passing. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Freeman, and three daughters, Anne Hoshizaki, Beth Jeffery-Pace, and Carol Howe. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren
