Lorenzo Dow Whiting - Class Of 1912

Lorenzo Whiting

September 1, 1893 - May 31, 1946

The College of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons at Griffin and Mission Roads points with pride on its 50th anniversary of its role in the development of osteopathy.

First known as Pacific College of Osteopathy, it was founded by Dr Lorenzo Whiting, only four years after Dr A.T. Still of Kirksville, Missouri, gave birth to the system of therapeutics called 'osteopathy.'

It has contributed in no small measure to placing California foremost in osteopathy. Twenty percent of the practicing osteopaths are in this state; and a majority of these are in Southern California.
