Morton Gleason

Morton H Gleason, 64, of Lafayette, Eastbay businessman and financier died after being stricken suddenly.

Mr Gleason of 2008 Reliez Valley Road, Lafayette, was vice president of Buttes Gas and Oil Company in Oakland, and was associated with various Emeryville industries. He formed the Gleason and Company building materials firm in Oakland in 1932, then later took an active interest in the gas and oil field. A 43-year resident of the Eastbay and a graduate of the University of California, he was a past member of the Athenian Nile Club in Oakland.

Suviviors include his widow, Thelma; two sons, Brooks of Castro Valley and Morton of San Jose; and two sisters, Mrs Maxine Sture of Oakland and Mrs Hazel Baker of Escondido.
