Althea Fay Thomas (Fish) - Class Of 1929

Althea Thomas Fish  '29  passed away in Whittier on February 6, 2006.  She was born on May 12, 1911 in the Pasadena Community Hospital (now Huntington Memorial Hospital).  She was the daughter of Ray and Helen Thomas and granddaughter of E.N. Thomas.

In 1935 the South Pasadena Merchant's Association selected her as Miss South Pasadena, one of three young women to receive a trip to the Pacific Northwest.  Althea was a graduate of South Pasadena High School, Class of 1929.  She married Edwin Fish of Bend, Oregon on April 2, 1938 and was married for 59 years.

One school year as a child, she and her sister Anita, attended the one-room schoolhouse on Catalina Island while their father helped construct part of Avalon and the dock for the "Great White Steamer."

Althea is survived by her daughter Patricia Scialla, niece Diana Stoney, and her nephew Richard Stoney.  Services were held at Westminster Memorial Park.
