Jean M Peat (Alderton)

Jean Peat Alderton, 93, of Salida, Colorado, died November 12, 2012 at her home. She was born September 26, 1919 in San Francisco California. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and worked for the US Department of Agriculture in Albany, California where she met her husband, Gordon Alderton, who preceded her in death in 1999.

After the birth of her first child, Mrs Alderton became a full-time homemaker and mother. She remained a registered dietitian and applied her knowledge and skills to volunteering for Meals on Wheels and other programs. In later life, she attained the Oregon master gardener certification. She enjoyed reading, gardening, hiking (including a hike to the Monarch Crest Aerial Tramway on her 90th birthday) and the many friends she made in Salida, Oregon, and California.

Survivors include her children, Bill (Pat) Alderton of Salida, Janet (Rick) Alderton of Berkeley and John (Christy) Alderton of Oakland; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
