Norman Bulfinch Schieber

Norman Schieber of Palmdale, California, died of complications from Parkinson's on November 3, 2006, at age 80.

 A "fourth-generation" Californian, he grew up in San Marino and Lake Arrowhead, and was in the class of '43 at South Pasdena-San Marino High School.  He accelerated and entered Stanford in January '43 in the class of '46 with his sister, Margery Schieber Silk '42, finished five quarters before he turned 18 and enlisted in the Navy.  Two years later, war over, he returned to Stanford as a member of the class of '48.  He was a member of Beta Theta Pi, Varsity Crew, Tau Beta Pi in Engineering and spent two years at Stanford Law.

He co-founded HANE Construction Co. in Southern California, was president and eventually sole owner.  He was married to Shrley Dalton, deceased.

Survivors:  sons Michael of Fiji, Craig of Costa Rica, daughter Harmony Gates of Oakland, sister Margery Schieber Silk, '42, of Westport, Connecticut and wife Irma Reed of Arizona.  Retired in 1988, he enjoyed travel and fishing with great good friends and family on near and quite distant junkets.
