Jack L Grotewiel

Jack Lesley Grotewiel, born November 8, 1927 in Alhambra. Passed away October 30, 2000. He graduated from South Pasadena High School. Joined the Navy during World War II and served in the Pacific Theater of War. After the war he attended Pasadena City College for two years, then University of California Santa Barbara.

He married twice; the first in 1949 which produced two children:  Jack and Jill, the second in 1957 to Patricia Cox Grotewiel and had two children:  Deneane and Sterling. That marriage lasted 43 years - to his death.

As an architect, he designed countless homes and buildings, three of which won the Sierra Madre Beautification Award. He lived in Sierra Madre for 41 years. Served as Commander of VFW Post 3208 for a total of six years.

Survived by his wife, Patricia, his four children:  Jack (Carin) Shuler, Jill (Walt) Brown, Deneane (Ralph) Cimarusti, Sterling Grotewiel, sister Evelyn Sikes Caseras, and fourteen grandchildren.
