James Marvin Craig

J. Marvin Craig,  born August 17, 1931 in Honolulu, died March 1, 2001. His family moved to Southern California when he was a teenager and he graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1949. After serving four years in the Navy he began attending Occidental College. He received a bachelor's degree in speech in 1958 from the college.
 
In 1956 he married Patricia Haas. He also received a master's degree in Hearing and Speech Sciences from Purdue University. Mr. Craig worked as a speech and hearing clinician in Ferndale, California before completing his doctorate degree in Audiology from the University of Washington in 1967. He served as a professor of Audiology in the Department of Communication Disorders at Eastern Washington University for 26 years. He retired as professor emeritus in 1993. Mr. Craig was a member of the United Church of Christ in Cheney. During retirement he edited the Eastern Washington University Retiree's Association newsletter and operated a small matting and framing business.
 
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Brian Craig of Des Moines, Washington, and Bruce Craig of Bellevue, Washington; a brother, Robert Craig (SPHS '42) of Fernandina Beach, Florida; two sisters, Myra of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., and Marilyn of Haiku, Hawaii; and three grandchildren.
