James Lannan - Class Of 1952

James Lannan

Jim Lannan  '52  passed away on December 9, 2004 after a valiant, but one-sided seven month battle with cancer.  It is with a great deal of sadness that I must report this as Jim was my friend of almost 60 years.

Dr. Lannan, internationally recognized fisheries scientist in genetics and aquaculture died at his Little Sky Ranch in Blodgett, Oregon.  Dr. Lannan was a professor at Oregon State University for 30 years, retiring in 1992 as Professor Emeritus of Fisheries.  After retirement he devoted his considerable energy to building his ranch, to his herd of registered Angus cattle, to his passion for OSU football, and to extensive community service work.

Dr. Lannan is survived by Catherine, his wife of 49 years.  He is also survived by four children and five grandchildren.
