In Memory

Steven L Durfee - Class Of 1958

Steven L Durfee

Steve Durfee  '58  passed away early Sunday morning, July 15, 2007 at the age of 67.

His lungs that had belted out so many songs and his big heart that had opened wide for everyone finally gave up.  They were not intended for such superhuman use.  Steve leaves his wife, Darlene Durfee; two children, Cynthia and Jason Durfee; two grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Durfee; a stepson, Duane Wheeler; a step-granddaughter, Nikki Wheeler, and a step-grandson, Dustin Wheeler.

We will all miss him immensely.  He wanted his memorial to be people celebrating life with music.  He wrote hundreds of songs and stuck around long enough to get some of them down on eight CDs.

We had planned a CD release/Steve party for Saturday, July 28.  He didn't stick around for his party, but will be there in spirit.

My brother knew many things about computers, music, the guitar and math. He was too enthusiatic to managing a classroom of children but taught me and many others. He was to me, a bit like Mr Wizard of 1950's TV fame.  I miss him.

Dialing Sycamore 95685 "Hi Ola, is Steve there?  Hey dude, how is the supply of Hydrox looking?  Cool man!  I'll be right over.

Steve was definitely one of a kind.  Many, many fond memories.
