Bonnie Champion (Pulskamp) - Class Of 1961

Bonnie Champion (Pulskamp)

Bonnie Jean Pulskamp, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away in her sleep on September 21, 2006 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Bonnie Jean Champion was born to Eugene Champion and Dorothy Moraine on November 30, 1943 in Los Angeles, and grew up in East Los Angeles and South Pasadena. She graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1961 and attended Pasadena City College, where she obtained her Associates Degree in Communications. In 1964 she entered the American Airlines' Stewardess School, and began her career as an American Airlines Flight Attendant on March 30, 1965.

Bonnie married Nicholas Ryan Pulskamp on May 2, 1969 and together raised three daughters in South Pasadena, while continuing to travel the world as a flight attendant. Always excited about traveling to new destinations, Bonnie was a crew member on several American Airlines Inaugural flights, including routes to London, Tokyo, Sydney and Auckland. She was a member of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants and the American Airlines' Kiwi Club. She volunteered for special service with American Airlines as part of the Civil Reserve Air Fleet (CRAF), to transport U.S. troops in and out of the Persian Gulf region during both the 1991 Operation Desert Storm and 2003 Operation Iraqi Freedom. For this service, she received Presidential recognition for service to her country. Friendly and always full of energy, she made friends wherever she went and always enjoyed traveling with friends and family. She was an avid Dodgers fan, loved shopping at Harrods in London and enjoyed watching sunsets from Waikiki Beach. As a mother, she worked hard to provide many opportunities for her daughters, and her friends will remember her for her generosity and bright smile.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Nick, daughter Jennifer Pulskamp of Valley Village, California, daughter Katherine, son-in-law Erik and grandson Alexander Bars of Santa Paula, California, daughter Emily Pulskamp of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and sister Carole Aezer of Sparks, Nevada. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, and a family of fellow American Airlines Flight Attendants.
