Donald Hume Fry Jr, a research fisheries biologist with the State Department of Fish and Game for 47 years, died yesterday at his home. He was 70 years old.

During the past few months Fry had been involved in developing the Bobelaine Nature Preserve adjacent to the Sacramento River in Sutter County for the Audubon Society. He was a lifetime member of the society and served as president of the Sacramento chapter in 1960. A native of San Francisco, Fry had lived in Sacramento since 1959.

Fry is survived by his wife, Pauline Fraser Fry, and his children, Donald M Fry of San Francisco, Sarah Davis, Elizabeth Moulds and Linda Titherington, all of Sacramento. He was the grandfather of six.
