Walter J Baker

Walter Joseph Baker, 90, passed away January 17, 2015 in Mountain View, Missouri. He was born June 23, 1924, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, son of Walter and Viola Baker. He and Violet Peterson married in February 1956.

He enjoyed being part of several organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America, VFW, St Mark Parish in Houston, St Philomena in Carson, California and the Gardena Camera Club.

He was drafted into the Air Force and transferred to the Army. He trained in Georgia before going to Fort Meade, Maryland. He was stationed in the Philippines and rose to the rank of Sergeant T-Y. He enjoyed music of all kinds, trains, gardening, traveling, hiking, camping, and photography.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Violet of Summersville; a son, Joseph Baker of Huntington Beach, California; a daughter, Catherine Underwood of Cypress, California; and a grandson.
