John F 'Jack' Connelly

John Farley Connelly, 87, a three-month Carson City, Nevada resident, died December 22, 2006.  Mr. Connelly was born January 22, 1919 in Long Beach, California to Oscar Connelly and Iva Farley Connelly.

Jack graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1937.  He married Marjorie Padgett in 1942 in Vancouver, Washington.  Before moving to Carson City, Jack and Marge lived in Klamath Falls, Oregon since 1981.  He had worked for the Pasadena Star-News and later Pacific Telephone and Telegraph for 36 years before his retirement in 1980.

Jack served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific theater.  He was a member of the Lion's Club in Klamath Falls, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1383 in Klamath Falls and was the past president of the Associated Square Dancers of America.  He was a Methodist.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark Connelly (SPHS '33) and Francis Connelly (SPHS '40) and a sister, Betty Connelly (SPHS '41).  Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; daughters Jackie Gordon of Carson City, Sue Connelly of Huntington Beach, California, and Maureen Lohrbach of Anaheim, CA.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
