Harold Lionel Fraser died peacefully at home on May 21, 2013. Born on Dec ember 15, 1917, he graduated from UCLA in 1941 with a bachelor's degree in fine arts.

Harold entered the 40th Division, 160th Infantry Armory, F Company in Los Angeles on December 26, 1941. His rank was 1st Lieutenant. He was wounded in the Zambales Mountains on the island of Luzon, in the Philippines in February 1945. Harold received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Harold married Betty Jean Peck in 1945 and they were happily married for 58 years, until her passing in 2003. Shortly after marrying, they built a house in Pasadena, next door to the one he had grown up in, and he lived there the rest of his life. Together, he and Betty Jean enjoyed ballroom dancing and UCLA football games (he was a season ticket holder for many years after they moved to the nearby Rose Bowl for home games), but most of all they cherished any opportunity to get together with their many wonderful friends. Harold had a remarkable talent for painting in water color, and when he wasn't earning a living as a commercial artist, he loved to paint landscapes, especially scenes of historic significance from the South Pacific, California, and his favorite vacation spots across the western US. His two other passions were golf and fly-fishing, which were the focus of many happy family vacations.

He is survived by his two sons, Steven and Jeffrey, two grandchildren, Vanessa Fraser and Kristen Fraser Dalton, and one great-grandchild, Lane Dalton.
