James 'Roger' Harris
February 8, 1934 - November 3, 2021
Roger Harris passed away peacefully after a long battle with lymphoma and Parkinson's disease. The son of James Harris and Doris Hecht Harris, James 'Roger' Harris was born in Los Angeles and raised in Pasadena and Laguna Beach. Roger graduated with a BS in Business from the University of Southern California and an MS in International Business from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to enrolling at Thunderbird, Roger dropped in on a friend at the University of Arizona where he was fixed up on a blind date with his future wife, Carol Buxton Harris. This blind date was the beginning of an adventurous life together lasting more than 60 years.
Roger, Carol, and their two children, Jay and Susan, settled in Ft Lauderdale, Florida where Roger became a Real Estate developer. During these years, the family spent many vacations traveling through the Bahamas and the Caribbean on their sailboat with their dog, Daisy and their cat Pinder. The Harris family had an open-door policy, and many friends and family came through their doors over the years. Roger was known for his sage advice to young friends of his kids. Always remember: Interest is Insidious!
In 1999, Carol and Roger retired to St Augustine, Florida to be closer to their son, Jay, and their much-adored grandchildren, Jake Harris and Brianna Taggart. Later, Susan moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, and the whole family was together again.
Roger led a wonderful, exciting, wanderlust life with his adoring family. He will be greatly missed!
