John Edward McBride, Sr. (USN, Ret.), devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2012 at 90 years of age.

John began 20 years in naval aviation as a naval officer in World War II and later served at stations in several states (Texas, Virginia, Pennsylvania, California, and Florida).  After retiring from the Navy, he returned to Chula Vista, California and worked for CalTrans.  He enjoyed gardening and sharing his orchids.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Iva Lucille Mauzey and his son John Edward, Jr.  He is survived by daughters, Robin McBride and Susan Cormode; grandchildren Brandon Cormode and Chrystal Cormode Cummings; and great-granddaughters Reese and Sienna Cummings.
