Patricia Whittemore (Wallace) - Class Of 1942

Patricia Whittemore (Wallace)

Pat passed away peacefully on March 27, 2012.  She is survived by her two daughters, Chris Mead of Arcadia and Debra Reggio of LaVerne, California; her four granddaughters, Katie Mead, Lindsey Parry, Meghan and Marissa Reggio; and her great-granddaughter Parker Parry.

Pat was a life long resident of the San Gabriel Valley.  She grew up in San Marino and attended South Pasadena High School.  She graduated from Stanford University in 1947.  Pat and her husband Haze bought both their homes in Arcadia.  Their first in 1948 and their second home in 1952 where they raised their two daughters.

Pat graduated from college with a degree in Social Services and continued giving back to her family, friends, and the Arcadia community throughout her entire life.  Pat was an avid volunteer and charter member of both the auxiliaries of Methodist Hospital and Huntington Hospital.  She served several times on Arcadia's Sister City Commission as well as volunteering extensively for the Assistance League of Arcadia, Arcadia PTA, Arcadia Educational Foundation, Foothill Area Panhellenic, Arcadia Coordinating Council, Arcadia Soroptimists, Creative Arts in Sierra Madre, and the Arcadia Library Foundation.  Only recently, after becoming a resident of the Azusa Silverado Senior Living Community, Pat and her beloved dog Trudy, became official Silverado ambassadors, publicly speaking on the positive benefits of living in a community environment specializing in the care of individuals suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia.

Pat was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, and friend.  She was an incredible great-grandma.  She was an excellent bridge player and was fortunate to be able to play bridge throughout her entire adult life.  Aside from volunteering, Pat loved shopping and traveling.  During her lifetime, Pat was able to travel throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa.  In Pat's later years she took several trips to Hawaii with her family.  Hawaii being her "favorite place on earth" aside from sitting at home watching a good golf tournament on the Golf Channel.
