Janith Scanlon Shaffer, a resident of Woodland, California, passed away surrounded by her loving family. She died peacefully at her home on July 11, 2017. Jan was born in Hoboken, New Jersey on October 5, 1935. The family moved to Pasadena when she was 12 years old. She attended South Pasadena-San Marino High School and went on to graduate from University of California, Berkeley.

Jan led an active life raising her children and being involved with many civic and charitable organizations. She spent countless hours volunteering at St Luke's Episcopal Church and was always there for a friend in need. Jan is survived by her three sons, Rick, David, and Doug; daughters-in-law Ellen and Laurie; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Gertrude Scanlon and her brother, David.
