Yes! Attending Reunion
Occupation/Career(s) Details:

Peace Corps teacher - saw bugs the size of a Buick, had unwanted encounterrs with Cobras and loved teaching our Kadazan kids

Enjoyed many years as a college and school librarian - no shhhh in my libraries! They were lively places with lots of books, Internet research, exchange of ideas and even a pet Garter snake named Eve.

In my third work incarnation I teamed up with my husband, Vic, as office manager of our CPA practice in South Pasadena.

Different places I have lived:

Berkeley, CA; Sabah, Malaysia; Los Osos, CA; So. Pasadena, CA, Pepeekeo, HI

Family history living in South Pasadena:

MY mother was a native Pasadenan . She and my dad fell in love with the Monterey Hills where they built their dream house. My sisters and I grew up in that house exploring the hills where there was an adventure at every turn - sheep grazing in Spring, flying kites with all the room in the world to see them soar and always the scary thrill of the unknown as we would sneek up on Braewood wondering who those mystery people were living there.

Dad was an engineer at JPL and Mom was a homemaker both highly creative people - my mother's creativity showed in everything domestic and my dad worked on space projects, built furniture and could pretty much make anything.

Family members who also went to SPHS:

Sisters: Leslie Gayman Howland (Class of '67) and Becky Gayman (Class of '69)
Sons: Patrick (Class of '90) and Scott Robinette (CLass of '94)
Husband: Vic Robinette (Class of '62)

Other SPHS graduates I keep in touch with:

Class of '63: Chris Helppie Soldate, Nancy Lawrence Flores, Lee Benz, Scott ('62) and Cecile Goodwin, CLarice Schmidt Knapp, Janet Kesler Torncello, Tino Vaca, Jay Knight, Bill Crosby, Marilyn Morhardt Skinner, Linda Mc Donald Shultz, Sharon Aitken Gill, Karen Anderson Green, Diane Spinaio Marilyn Morhardt Skinner, Mary Batson Holliday, Jerry and Kris Durfee, Ted Hoffman, Peggy Hoffman (‘60) Bobbie Robertson Hyta, Mike Wawra (class of ‘62) I feel blessed to be in touch with these Tigers on a fairly regular basis and often think of many more.

School Memories:

Slumber parties with the "Senior Women" when Andy Van Horn and Co. TP'd my house, the chain letter in Mr. Minard's Govt Class, football games & after game dances at Oneonta Church, Spring Break at Janet's in Newport. Breakfasts with the "Senior Women" at IHOP were so much fun - being late to class and trying to dodge Miss Lauer, not so fun. Hiking up our skirts above the knee until caught by the ever present Miss Lauer was a drag but we felt so rebellious - can you imagine!

Organizations, clubs, sports groups, and other groups I (did or do) participate in (in high school and/or now):

Currently still involved in South Pas life when we are in town:
SPARC - South Pasadena Arts Council, WISPPA (co-founder) Women Involved in South Pasadena Political Activism), Holy Family Church’s Social Concerns Ministry

Milestones & Epiphanies:

Learning that family, friendship and love are the saving graces of life.

What's happening in my life now:

Vic and I sold our Indiana Avenue house (Of 45 years) in South Pas in the spring of 2018. We now split our time between our South Pas condo and our home in Pepeekeo, HI. We have such great times there hanging out with our neighbors down the road, Sharon Aitken Gill (‘63) and her husband Mark. We always love having visitors so get in touch if you’re headed for the Big Island.

Pastimes & Hobbies:

Gardening, writing, reading, wine tasting, hanging out with friends, traveling (fabulous trip to Ireland in June and recently returned from South African Safari). Most of all, spending time with my family - especially those grandsons. Halloween trick or treating with them will be a kick. I have been instructed by the youngest, Will, to “be Bat Girl” Always an adventure with these little guys!

Remembering Tom way back from our Lincoln School days, he was then and continued to be a terrific person. At our last reunion he still had the same twinkle in his eye, steady friendly spirit and positive outlook on life. The loss of Tom is yet another reminder for us to treasure each other and look forward the time we have left together dear friends.  My heart goes out to Marlene and Tom’s family.
