Today (6/17/2026) was the first I had heard of Dan's passing. We had communicated a few times over the years, including one reunion where he had told several of us he was coming and someone even went to LAX to get him but he was a no show. Although about 10 million boomers claimed to have attended Woodstock Dan was the only one I knew who LIVED there, although I have no idea if he attended the famous event.
Dan was a good friend through junior high and high school and we were in many classes together. Fall of our senior year he somehow acquired student season tix to southern cal football games so he drove to those as his parents had purchased Jim Beebe's mom's car from her - 56 Chevy I think though it could have been a 55. We went a lot of places in that car and I'm lucky to have survived. We went to a lot of Dodger games in it where, with Dan as the instigator, we tended to be the kind of fans other fans wished had stayed home. BUT, we had fun and Dan was good at that.
I wish he had come to a reunion or two so we could catch up. I think of him as a lifelong albeit remote friend. RIP
