Edward C Filley - Class Of 1945

Edward Campbell 'Ed' Filley of North Tustin, California, passed away at his home on November 2, 2013. Ed was born in Pasadena on May 19, 1927, son of Edward P Filley (SPHS '16) and Wanda McMurtry. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Patricia, and their loving family; his three children, Susan (Will) Correll of Spokane, Washington, son Ted (Kim) Filley of Encinitas, California, Jeff (Pam) Filley of North Tustin; step-daughters, Lori (Keith) Medlin of St. Louis, Missouri and Tricia (Scott) Stanier of Murrieta, California; six grandchildren and six step-grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was predeceased by his brother Dwight Filley (SPHS '48).

Ed's greatest joy in life was love of family. He had a passion for Stanford University, his alma-mater. Prior to his college years, he attended South Pasadena High School and in the summers he was a cowboy roping cattle on his uncle's ranch in Lodi, California. He joined the Navy after graduating from high school. Ed was a true sportsman and loved both water and snow skiing, golfing, camping, backpacking, and was an avid tennis player. He had a passion for travel with his beloved wife Pat, and spent much of his time body surfing at the beach. He enjoyed reading, planning world travel itineraries, playing bridge, and cheering on his grandkids in their various endeavors.
