Douglas 'Doug' Galchutt

Douglas Edwin Galchutt, 86, of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, entered eternal life April 1, 2014 surrounded by loved ones.

Doug was born July 25, 1927 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He moved to California in 1933 at the age of six; graduated South Pasadena High School in 1945 and enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 during World War II. He married Darlys Tiegs in 1957 and they raised three children.

Doug majored in Architectural Engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1960. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a proud member of the Sons of Norway. His passion as an architect led him to a career with TRW for 30 years. He loved his family, fishing, woodworking, and the fine arts.

Doug is survived by his sons, Kurt and Eric; daughter Kristen; siblings Muriel Espeland (SPHS '46), Ron Galchutt (SPHS '49), and Steve Galchutt; and granddaughter, Erika Galchutt. Doug left this world peacefully and will always be loved.
