Bob Shryock

November 28, 1930 - August 8, 2026

Robert Frazier Shryock, affectionately known to his friends and family as Bob, age 95, passed away peacefully at his home in South Pasadena.

Born to Marion Bonney Shryock and Charles Shryock, Bob lived a life defined by integrity, optimism, warmth, a clever sense of humor, and an unwavering dedication to his family and his church community. He graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1948 and the University of Oregon in 1953 with a BS in History. Upon graduation, he proudly served his country in the Korean War as a lieutenant in the United States Navy.

A gifted landscape architect, Bob possessed a deep passion for flora and landscapes. In designing and creating beautiful landscapes for clients, family, and friends, he cultivated living legacies that will bloom for decades to come. For his family, he also designed three homes in South Pasadena and Newport Beach. His love for nature extended into his free time, where he dedicated many hours as a passionate volunteer at the Huntington Gardens in San Marino.

Bob is survived by his dear sister-in-law, Mary Beth (Hardy) Thomas, his loving nieces and nephews, and many grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews who will carry his wisdom and zest for life into the future.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Charles Shryock '47, Nancy Shryock (Joe) Jordan '50, Elizabeth Williams '57; and three nephews.
