Charles B Shryock

Charles Shryock resident of Pahrump, Nevada, passed away on May 6, 2009 at The City of Hope after a prolonged illness. 

Born October 5, 1929 in Grand Junction, Colorado, he graduated South Pasadena High School ('47) and UCLA ('52).  He was a Commissioned officer in the US Navy; three years aboard the USS Osborne.  Business career included the family business (Garvey Wholesale), banking (LA Federal President three years, Great American, and Wells Fargo).  Retirement activities included arbitration, member of the Board of Equalization (Nye County); President, Pahrump Valley Hospital Board; family trips to Mammoth Lakes and Laguna Beach.  Hobbies included skiing, travel, amateur radio (W7CBS) and sailing (4 Transpacs; Bermuda, Trans Atlantic Races), 50-year member of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club; Secretary, Trans Pac YC.

Predeceased by parents Charles and Marion; survived by his wife, Dori Wells Shryock; daughter Charmaine Bailey (Sean); stepdaughter Melissa Leasure (JP); grandchildren Lily and Mac Bailey, Katie, Amanda and John Leasure; siblings Robert F., Nancy Jordan (Joe) and Liz Williams.
