Nancy Mann Simpson
May 3, 1944 - November 19, 2024
Nancy completed her life at age 80 in Falls Church, Virginia, surrounded by family, including her husband, three children and two grandchildren. With a graduate degree in Demography from Johns Hopkins, Nancy devoted her professional career to Public Health, primarily at the National Cancer Institute, working in the U.S. and overseas. Notably, she conceived and established programs for early detection of breast cancer, nationally in Belarus and for the entire Appalachian Region.
Nancy loved women's art, especially the batik and ikat textiles from Southeast Asia. Living in Indonesia, Nancy became a docent at the National Museum. At South Pas, she began her life-long interests in both science (planaria in biology class) and the humanities (Shakespeare in English lit). Her family and friends are grateful for Nancy's beginings at South Pas.
