Margaret Swenson Robison
July 9, 1941 - July 8, 2025
A beautiful, strong, independent woman, Margaret Swenson Robison passed away at home with her two sons by her side, from congestive heart failure. Born in San Diego to Lennart Swenson and Ruth Frieling, Margy was the eldest of three girls, sisters Lynn '61 and Kristine '64.
The family lived on Garfield Avenue and eventually in a beautiful craftsman home on Bank Street. Margy attended Las Flores School, where in kindergarten, she met her lifelong friend, Andy Stapel White '59. She attended Marengo School, South Pasadena Junior HS, and SPHS, graduating in 1959. Margy would reminisce of childhood days playing in the Arroyo, Girl Scouts, and enjoying her sisters, whom she adored.
After high school she married Richard Robison '58. Together they had two beautiful sons, Devin and Christian. Though they divorced, she and Richard remained close throughout her life.
Margy had a full and adventurous life, working for a time in Washington D.C., traveling to Honduras with her sons, and making a memory-filled trip to Sweden with her sister Kristine to explore their heritage. She retired from The Theodore Payne Foundation where she served as accountant.
Margy's home was always the gathering place for the family. She found great joy and happiness spending time with her sons, four grandchildren, her daughters-in-law, and her sister Lynn's daughter, Lisarae Bedell Lattin '82, hiking in the San Gabriels, laughing together at the dog park, caring for her native garden and the birds that visited, baking Swedish cookies, and playing cribbage. Margy loved her family dearly and her home is filled with photos proudly displayed of each member, and of course, everyone's dogs!
Margaret is predeceased by her parents, her sister Lynn, and daughter-in-law Cynthia Robison. She is survived by her sons Devin and Christian, her daughters-in-law Jocelyn, and Ana Haddad, her four grandchildren; niece Lisarae Lattin and her family; her sister Kristine Swenson Durfee '64, brother-in-law Jerry Durfee '63 and their children Peter, Adam, Jessica, and her great nieces and nephews.
Margy's presence still lives on as the butterflies and hummingbirds surround her garden, when we hear a Bob Dylan song, or see a picture of Elvis. She is missed each day!
