John Alman, Principal of South Pasadena High School from 1921 - 1940.  Murdered, along with four others, on May 6, 1940, by Verlin Spencer, Principal of the South Pasadena Junior High School.

Mr. Alman was born July 18, 1881 in Illinois.  He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Alman; son John Jr. (SPHS '28); daughter Margaret Alman (SPHS '37); and brothers, Fred, Ray, and William Alman.
